With the spring around the corner, sports and recreational activities are starting to gain popularity, bringing new opportunities for exciting and unusual events in the landscapes of Northwest Istria.

The Asparagus Cycling (Biciklom u šparoge) recreational tour was inspired by the self-grown plant itself, which has been an important ingredient of the Istrian national cuisine since ancient times. Aside from offering insight into the culinary tradition, the manifestation reveals the beauty of cycling routes, preserved nature and the cultural heritage in the surrounding area of Buje in all their glory.

The tour is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in the town of Kaštel near Buje. A macadam road stretching over some 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) leads towards Plovanija and Kanegra, then returns towards Kaštel along a part of the Parenzana route, with the possibility of minor route changes depending on the weather conditions. Wearing protective helmets is mandatory and bringing a spare tube is recommended.

The tour is being organised as part of the Istrian Asparagus Days festival, which means the participants will be able to taste some delicious meals based on this uniquely tasting plant that has secured itself a place on the menus of the best chefs as a top quality ingredient of the Istrian climate.

The 30 HRK registration fee covers lunch under a tent in Kaštel, as well as refreshment during the tour in a rustic tavern called Malo selo.

You, too, can participate in this entertaining cycling tour! With pleasant company and attractive landscapes of Northwest Istria, fun is guaranteed. Don't miss out on this opportunity.
