Arriving in Istria

Arriving by car
If you are arriving in Istria from the western direction, Slovenia, you will cross the border on one of three road border crossings; Plovanija – Sečovlje, Kaštel – Dragonja or Požane – Sočerga. For your pleasant jorney through Istria, you have at your disposal the semi – highway „Istrian Y“, taking you t ocentral Istria and to the southernmost parts of the peninsula, only 100 km away from the eastern direction, using the Croatian highways from Zagreb or Split to Rijeka, after crossing the Učka tunnel, you will quickly reach your final destination.


Arriving by plane
If you are arriving by regular or charter flights, you will land at the Pula airport, the biggest international airport in Istria. The Pula airport is only 5 km away from the city centre, so you can easily get there by taxy, bus or organized transport. Nearby, there is an international Vrsar tourist airport for accepting smaller aircrafts.

Arriving by train
Coming by train, you can arrive in Istria very quickly using the following lines: Ljubljana (SLO) – Divača (SLO) – Buzet (HR) – Pula (HR) and Zagreb (HR) – Rijeka (HR) – Pazin (HR) – Pula (HR). More on www.hznet.hr.

Arriving by boat
When you decide to visit Istria by sea, you can use fixed or seasonal ship lines. (Info at www.jadrolinija.hr, www.findcroatia.com, www.tirrenia.it). For those of you who arrive by your own boat, you will be cordially welcomed in many Istrian marinas. They all have the most modern facilities at your disposal and offer all the necessary additional services. The sea borders in Istria are located in harbours of following Istrian towns: Umag, Novigrad, Poreč, Rovinj, Pula and Rabac.
