515GLAGOLITIC TRAIL

Welcome to the track that is going to lead you across the charming landscape of the pure untouched nature of the istrian hinterland. We depart from Cerovlje, once known for the brick industry. Cerovlje today vaunts a somehow unusual touristic offer ? recreational fresh-water fishing in ponds along the Pazinčica river flow, created from pug excavations for the local brickyard.

If you are not a lover of fishing and you prefer visiting cultural-historical monuments, here do not miss to visit the late gothic church of the St Trinity from the XV century painted by frescoes and the parish church of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the XIX century. If you continue further along the track, the road leads through the gentle lands of Cerovlje across Previš until one of the most attractive and picturesque istrian medieval towns ? Draguć. The place which, until some hundred years ago lived from the cultivation of the silk-worm, today is almost completely abandoned. However, its unforgettable natural position and the exceptional beauty of the stone architecture, the modest palaces, the walls and the old churches, perhaps could seem somehow known.

Considering that right here have been recorded numerous national and foreign production movies and TV series, maybe you have already noticed Draguć on some movie or TV screen. Do you wish to completely enjoy in the sumptuous beauty of the medieval Draguć, visit its churches out of which the oldest one is that of St. Elysium from the XII century, which for the altar mensa has an authentic roman stela, and the most interesting church of St. Roch at the sole entrance in the town with impressive frescoes from the XVI century, piece of Anonio from Padua. If you go further, the track leads through woods, field and meadows until the fairy Kotli.

Once a place of known millers, Kotli will completely enchant you with their scenery. A small bridge, rustical stone houses, a mill, a river and rapids that produce hollow-like holes in stone, after which the place takes its name, just like they have been copied from some fairy-tale of the Grimm brothers. If you continue further, you?ll move from one fairy-tale to another. In front of you there is Hum ? the world?s smallest town! No it is not a joke, if you walk in through its walls, this medieval town, known for its Glagolitic heritage, is going to capture you with its authentic beauty tightened on such little surface.

Although you won?t need more than 10 minutes for visiting the town, however the visiting of its sacral interiors, especially of the tombal church of St. George from the XII century, could last even much longer considering that there are some precious frescoes, Glagolitic graphites, a polychromatic wooden retabulus? and Hum is finally the last station of the famous 7 km long Glagolitic alley. If you slowly continue further along the track over the undulating relief of the villages around Borut, soon you?ll get back to Cerovlje, fulfilled with unique experiences of this fairy Glagolitic track.
